Stay in Touch – More Updates Are Coming!

Nothing matters as much to us as user satisfaction. Enflick’s passion has always been to create and build social connectivity solutions that make your life easier and – hopefully – better by improving the way you can connect and interact with others.

Your satisfaction means so much to us that when our first product – TextNow – took off two years ago, Jon, my co-founder, and I pretty much ‘skipped’ the holidays with our families that year! We wanted to make sure that our servers could adequately support all of our scaling requirements – which were growing beyond our wildest expectations!

As part of our overall user commitment, we recently rebuilt PingChat! We redesigned every component underneath the hood in order to ensure faster, smoother and more reliable connectivity. Our reengineering efforts culminated in the launch of Touch – a totally new, next generation platform that provides instantaneous and seamless interconnectivity with your most valued relationships.

With a highly advanced architecture, Touch enables lightning fast and reliable connectivity from practically any mobile device. It includes major improvements that make engaging with close friends and family immediate, intimate and seamless – in a way that emulates real-life personal interactions. Plus, its powerful foundation paves the way for many other interesting things to come.

When you and your friends download Touch, we believe that you will truly enjoy this unique and powerful real-time experience.

However, in order to gain these benefits, Touch lost some compatibility with the PingChat! platform – an older platform which was rapidly exceeding its capacity. Specifically, ‘read’ receipts, ‘typing’ indicators and group chats are not fully compatible between the two architectures. So if you’re using Touch – and your friends are still using PingChat! – you probably aren’t experiencing the full potential of Touch – and we really, really want you to have the Touch Experience! Fortunately, the solution is simple. By just updating to Touch, you and your friends can see for yourselves why we’re so excited about this product.

That said, from your feedback, we also know that Touch is still not perfect. And – while everything in life isn’t perfect – we want to get as close as we possibly can with our platform! Subsequently, our entire team is working diligently to reintroduce some of the most popular features in PingChat! that were originally missing in Touch. Some of these capabilities have already been brought back, including:

Copy and paste;
Saving photos to your library;
Zooming in and out in photos; and
Louder notification sound.

And audio and video messaging are on their way!

As I said at the start of this blog, your satisfaction is important to us, and we value your input. Please know that we are listening! We appreciate your patience as we continue to refine Touch and add all of the capabilities – and even more – that you’ve come to expect from us.

Thanks for your response. It is virtually impossible to tell which group is which of there are more than 5 people in the group – even with the little avatars.

We have a lot of different groups – friends, tennis buddies, boys, punters, etc and it is just frustrating not being able to name groups as such, to quickly and easily identify them.

Please see this example… when you have many groups, often with similar (but not the same) people, it becomes increasingly difficult to tell them apart at a glance…… ESPECIALLY where there are more than 5 or 6 people in the group.

Group message is the best feature of Touch, but with the most frustrating limitation

I liked ping and tried touch a little but i dont feel the love…. untill then i whont be clicking on the like or share buttons to the compertions your running as much as id love to win a new phone, i just simply cant promote a app thats not really ready for mainstream use

Display picture is pixelated. Notification sound is too low and we need statues and then this will be the ultimate IM platform with social interaction

Have you updated to the latest version (3.0.2)? The notification volume issue should be resolved in the recent update.

As for the display picture issue, that could be because you’re viewing a PingChat! uploaded display photo, which is stored in a lower resolution. Once the contact re-uploads their profile photo in Touch, that issue should be fixed.

Currently, I’m using GroupMe over any other messaging app, solely due to the fact that I can message from the web (a close second is the ability to have a dedicated number for non-smartphone users). Any plans to implement web integration? (I know textnow has this ability) and if so, when? Thanks. (also, I would love if your app icon had the red background instead of the white background, the red looks great!)

I’m glad to hear you like the new branding!

I can’t give you any definite timeline right now for a Touch web-app.

However, if you’re looking to text via a dedicated phone number to a non-smartphone user and also the ability to text on the web, I’d recommend checking out TextNow for iOS and TextNow.com!

Well, the main reason for me to abandon PingChat (and Touch) is, that I can’t save the chat-history to my computer without hacks. I asked for that months and months, but nothing happened…

actually i am really beginning to like Touch. i do at this point prefer it over PingChat due to its snappy response. i am glad the team is heeding users wishes soon bring back video and audio capabilities.

Hi guys. Looks like oyu have put a lot of effort in here. Just some feedback, the loss of functionality has been really big, and I’ve had to find an alternative. I loved pingchats ability to send video, high quality audio, and locations. Where did this all go?

Hello, I was wondering if someone can please explain the blackberry application permissions for Touch? I want to put Touch on my Blackberry but i dont know what the permissions and which ones should be allowed or not allowed.

The App is Great, as most people are saying there a lot to Work on but probably you are the first ones to know that. A Key Feature which i think will get Touch new users from BBM and Whatsapp is the Creation of Groups. Im from Ecuador and People here only have theyre Blackberrys because of the Groups in BBM.

Im trying to get more users for Touch and hopefully help to make it the Top App for Chats for Crossed Plattforms

Are you using a Google Voice phone number or any other 3rd party SMS app?

The app needs to be able to intercept the text message to verify the SMS.

If you are having issues still, file a request at support.touch.com and we will be better able to assist you.

I can’t delete chats on my blackberry bold 9700. When i try and delete them they disappear, only to reappear the next time I chat with the same person. I want to be able to delete chats for good. Any news on this?

You will disappear from their friend list, but they won’t be notified.

Could you add the ability to change notification sound? I would like it to be Tri-tone when the app is closed and a message is received, so that it sounds like a regular text message. When it’s open and it’s instant messaging happening, then the original sound.

Sorry, I’m is Hong Kong people, I think give you advice, I found after after Christmas since, I am in Hong Kong use Touch to send to the U.S., found that the speed is very slow, What will the new upgrade or no?

Add timestamp for when a message was originally sent (or received) for all messages in a conversation, not just for the last message…for both the initial screen with conversations and also when in a specific conversation.

Often I will get multiple messages from one person and am not sure when the previous messages were sent, only the last one.

Please consider adding the option to hide details/block friend requests. Got the app only to text overseas friend- just had to delete 7 random friend requests and that was just today’s load! Cheers.

Tapping the ‘x’ should let you ignore the request. If you want to block someone, simply remove them as a friend.

That’s what I’ve been doing but the number of spam requests that keep bleeping on my phone is a huge annoyance in an otherwise great app- it would be much easier if we had the option of hiding our details from the public so these requests don’t appear in the first place. Just a request for your next update =)

you have to add all of these in fast way to make ur app cool as much as whatsapp and better !! :

1- put a pin or something cool to add friends because when i search for a friend to add there are alot of people with same name !! so if you put like a pin or make a for every one a user its going to be cool even when you support QR code to add people ita cool ways to add more then searching by names :/

2- i want to put my own nickname to make friends see it and talk by that name …. its so imp !!

3- status messages & my status like im online or away or custom message

Great app so far, but I noticed I can’t click on links sent to me in the chat bubbles (ie. I have to copy and paste the link into my browser). P.S. I am using an iPhone and my blackberry friends don’t seem to have a problem with this.

my 10 year old daughter received an itouch for christmas. She convinced me to let her try the “touch” program. I noticed that she is able to hold conversations with people that were not on “her contact ” list – but were part of a group of one of her contacts. I am curious why that is? Is there any way to block certain members of the group or do I have to just delete her from the group? I ahve taken a look thru the program and did not notice any parental controls – are there any???

Agree a PC app would be good but first bring back video and sound capture as it’s really compromising the whole application.

Also, don’t like that you don’t get chance after selecting a pic to delete a it before it’s sent now.

So sick of receiving random friend requests from users with pictures of penis as their profile picture, lack of privacy options is extremely disappointing. I downloaded it because my kids – yes kids!!! – want to use the app on their ipod touches.

I keep getting pornographic friend requests from strangers. It looks like it’s quite a widespread issue as I am not alone. Is this a virus? Are you doing anything to suppress them? Can you add a blocking element to the app? If it doesn’t stop I will be deleting the app & urging my friends who use it to do the same. I would be quite concerned if my kids were getting these.

I am also being bombarded with highly dubious friend requests. Some accompanied by graphic photos. This is not a problem for what’s app users, which I will soon become if this problem is not rectified.
